ISLAMABAD, May 06, 2014 (Xinhua via COMTEX News Network) — Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said here on Tuesday that Islamabad is keen to build a ” peaceful neighborhood” with a policy of constructive engagement.

The prime minister told a conference of Pakistani diplomats in his key note addressthat his government’s priorities cover safeguarding national interest, building a peaceful neighborhood and offering quality service to Pakistanis living abroad.

He highlighted relationship with Afghanistan and India, growing cooperation with China, ties with the Middle East and the Western nations.

On relations with arch-rival India, Sharif said Pakistan remains committed to seeking peaceful resolution of all disputes through a sustained dialogue.

Sharif said the country’s internal policies are focused on peace talks with the Pakistani Taliban and efforts to deal with the crisis of power shortage.
