Vice President, China Mobile called on the Finance Minister

Mr. Li Zhengmao, Executive Vice President, China Mobile Communications Corporation along with his team called on the Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar at the Finance Ministry today.

Mr. Zhengmao congratulated the Finance Minister and the Minister of State for IT, for holding successful Spectrum Auction in a transparent manner. He said that his Corporation will invest over US $ one billion in telecommunication infrastructure and training of its officials within a period of three years. While reiterating his commitment to expand investment in Pakistan, Mr Zhengmao disclosed that he plans to roll out projects in e- education and e-health.
He added that a framework agreement for future investment and R&D projects with the Government of Pakistan will be formally signed for further commitments.

Minister of State for IT, Ms. Anusha Rehman, who was also present in the meeting, requested production of mobile sets in Pakistan which will help the local industry in technology development. She said that the Company’s aim should be for localized research and development with transfer of technology which will ultimately benefit our local industry. She emphasized that China Mobile Communications Corporation should initiate local based product manufacturing projects which will help in employment generation. The Executive Vice President said that they will seriously consider the proposal.

The Finance Minister appreciated participation of Telecommunication Companies in the auction process and thanked China Mobile Communications Corporation for contributing resources to Pakistan’s economy. He congratulated Mr. Li Zhengmao, Executive Vice President on Zong being one of successful bidder in obtaining one 3G and one 4G License through transparent auction conducted by PTA. He said that Spectrum Auction will further add to the renewed confidence of the international investors in Pakistan’s economic policies. He expressed the hope that maximum service benefits will reach to the consumers as a result of Spectrum Auction
