Finance Minister Ishaq Dar invited to ADB Annual Meeting

The Executive Director, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Sami Saeed called on Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here Tuesday.

Mr. Sami Saeed extended to the Finance Minister invitation to attend the Annual Meeting of the ADB scheduled to be held at Frankfurt, Germany from 2 to 5 May 2016. He also shared with the Finance Minister detailed schedule of the meeting which will focus on key topics for sustainable development in Asia, including clean energy and climate change; partnering with cities; developing urban areas; and improving production and supply chains.

Minister Dar exchanged views with the ADB senior official regarding current ADB portfolio in Pakistan and also discussed proposals and projects which are in the pipeline. ADB funding has specially aimed to improve Pakistan’s infrastructure and services, and to support reforms.

The Minister thanked Mr. Sami Saaed for the invitation and said he looked forward to attending the ADB Annual meeting and have in depth exchange of views with the Bank’s senior leadership on future programmes for Pakistan. He said Pakistan highly valued ADB’s continued support for different development projects. He hoped that Pak-ADB cooperation would scale greater heights in future.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance were present on the occasion.
