Nation Engulfed in Darkness once again.

Parts of Karachi plunged into darkness as a high-tension 500KV backup power line near Jamshoro tripped in the early hours of Friday causing a power breakdown. The power breakdown hit around 5:00am in areas, including Clifton, Defence, Gulshan, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Tariq Road Drigh Road, Lyari and Federal B Area. According to K-Electric officials, a team has been sent to repair the backup power line which is essential for the restoration of electricity. However, the officials refused to comment on when the power will be restored.

Earlier this month similar breakdowns appeared in Punjab and KPK raising an eye on the maintenance and operations of the power producers. Already the Industry and Economics of the Nation is hurt by now a decade long Electricity crisis. Hundreds of promises and after billions of dollars spent, power outages are still as frequent as they were at their peak three years ago. Expectations from the Nawaz regime were high since resolving the Nations Energy Crisis was the major reason for most to have voted for them, yet the Nation stands betrayed once again.

Power outage so early in the morning hampered with every working person in the City, and even once at their work place or schools the moods remain gloomy. Children could not get ready for school, neither for offices. With the ongoing water crisis in Sindh, power outages such as this in the Nation’s Economic Capital will hamper the Nation’s Economic Growth and should not be taken lightly.

Official statements claim that power should be restored to the affected areas in the next 5-6 hours. It must be made sure by the relevant authorities that such event do not become a norm in the city once again.
