Reference against Altaf sent to UK government

The federal government Tuesday formally sent a reference to the UK government for strict action against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain pertaining to his provocative speeches through which he instigated the public to violence and disorder in Karachi.

A senior official of the Ministry of Interior said the Ministry has also provided evidence against Altaf, which include a copy of First Information Report (FIR) registered against MQM chief, all CCTV footages, pictures, footages by electronic media, and transcripts of MQM chief’s speeches to British government for inciting the public to violence.

He said according to the reference, Altaf Hussain has not only violated Pakistani laws but also British and international laws, therefore the UK government should take action against him under the British laws. The British government should take action against all those responsible for inciting the public to violence and creating a law and order situation in Pakistan, the reference added. According to the official, the Sindh government had provided all documentary evidence to the federal government pertaining to Altaf’s anti-Pakistan remarks that incited his worker to violence.
