Terror in Qissa Khawani: 37 killed, 100 injured
PESHAWAR, Sept 29 (APP): Thirty seven persons including six children and seven women of a family were killed and 100 others injured on Sunday when a car laden with explosives ripped near Khan Raziq Police Station situated in main Qissa Khawani bazaar here, City Commissioner said. According to initial reports, the explosion was triggered by a remote control device. 13 members including children and women of a same family belonging to Shabqadder who came to Peshawar for marriage’s shopping also have been killed in the blast. Hospital authorities have also confirmed that 13 deaths of a same family in the tragic incident.
AIG, Bomb Disposal Sqaud, Shafqat Malik told that explosive material of 200-225 Kg was used in the blast.
He said that explosive laden vehicle served as a huge bomb that increased the intensity of the blast.
The explosion ignited fire that engulfed the nearby buildings besides damaging six vehicles, one tri-wheeler and four motorcycles.
A crater was also formed on the site of the blast.
Traders community said that a total of 85 shops were damaged among which 30 were destroyed completely.
Soon after the incident, rescue workers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where conditions of some were stated to be precarious.
Hue and cry and heart wrenching scenes were seen in the LRH, the medical facility. where victims of Kohati Church Blast and Gulbaila Bus Blast have already been admitted for medical treatment.
It is worth mentioning here that Khan Raziq Police Station was named after Khan Raziq Shaheed who lost life in Dhakki Blast occurred in same Qissa Khawani Bazar along with DIG, Malik Saad and others.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah has strongly condemned bomb blast at Qissa Khawani Bazar and expressed his deep shock and sorrow over loss of precious lives in the incident.
Describing it a worst act of inhumanity, the Governor has said that the elements involved in the heinous crime would be brought to justice soon.
The Governor has also advised the concerned authorities to ensure availability of best medical treatment to the injured and expressed the confidence that no effort would be spared in extending utmost care to them.
Meanwhile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister, Sikander Sherapao, Former Federal Minister, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour and PTI MNA, Ayesha Gulali while condemning the blast have expressed grief and sorrow over loss of lives in the incident.
