KARACHI: The PTA has asked phone users to report incoming international calls on their devices that show up as local numbers. A press release issued by the PTA on Wednesday said: “The government is incurring huge financial loses due to the illegal landing of international calls into Pakistan also known as grey traffic.” The process involves bypassing legal routes for international calls, the statement added.
A free SMS service has been announced by PTA for users to report such activity round-the-clock.
To register a complaint, phone users can report the suspected number by messaging its digits at the following short code: 8866 “A legal call coming into Pakistan should display the correct number with the correct country code,” the statement said, adding that the Ministry of IT and PTA has taken numerous steps to address this issue
